Head in the Cloud Based Solutions

I wrote this for a specific project - but for anyone curious about the basics of cloud computing, this entry might be helpful to you.

Cloud computing isn't going away.  It took off in 2010 and soon business and service apps will be as easy to use as most social media apps.  Simply put: internet speeds will increase, therefore computing service needs rise; so the cloud will continue to grow.

Yet many CEO's are still hesitant to make the switch over to the cloud innovation.  This gives smaller companies the opportunity to grab new resources that weren't readily available for them, before traditional large companies begin to take over.

The benefits of cloud-based solutions in business boil down to three things: 
1. Fast resources
2. Less costs and 
3. Low maintenance  

Most of us use cloud computing without even realizing it when we upload our photos to social sites and retrieve documents we saved on a service like Google Drive.

The resources are shared and permission-controlled for multiple users, adjusted per demand and time zone.  Most IT experts suggest cloud computing requires minimal management or effort on the part of the user or IT staff, which gets your content up and running faster.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology states: "Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction."

To ultimately sell the idea to a CEO, emphasize the ease of use of a service an employee can access anywhere from the web.  The cost is lower and many cloud services offer products as an alternative to software (Adobe, Microsoft, SAP, etc.) or SaaS (Software as a Service).   Disaster recovery provides reassurance and frees your IT staff to worry about other issues.  Last but not least, mobile cloud-computing is a match made in heaven for technology trends and solutions. 

The bottom line of any cloud-computing service is: faster, simpler, and less expensive; the wave of now AND of the future.

One Small Change

This was a concept started by a great Colorado lady I follow on Twitter: http://hipmountainmamablog.com/one-small-change/ The idea is to make one small change each month leading up to earth day in the hope that with each of us doing one more thing to help the earth we will make a positive impact, follow through and encourage others to do the same. I already recycle and considerably cut down on how many paper towels I use. My next change is to buy more LED / CFL bulbs, turn the thermostat down a little more and purchase a few more canvas bags to keep in the car to ensure I always have some on hand when I run into the store unplanned. But I'd like to take this small change movement a little bit further. Not only do we need to change our habits in how we treat our earth but I think we also should strive to make an effort in how we treat each other. lame lyrics

"so many things i want to tell you, everything i want to share, just gets blogged or tweeted even though those folks don't care. everything that makes me laugh or break out into a smile, fills me with a need to see you even just a little while." totally corny right? was just a random thought I had a week ago when missing my man. I dunno my biggest flaw as a musician is my inability to connect melodies I write to genuinely good lyrics. There's definitely an art to writing for songs versus writing poetry or stories. I think it baffles me most because what I consider great lyrics are so painfully simple, yet NOT if you get my point. I've been trying to pay attention to songs that really move me and pay close attention to the lyrics. The Cliks album Dirty King is a great example (it's not officially released yet but I bought a copy at their concert).
